織田信長の「隠し部屋」を発見！？

まるで動物園？ 居並ぶ十二支の木像と鳥の画

前回、安土城天主の十二支の木像をご紹介するなかで、『天守指図』二重目の部屋の配置にも話が及んだため、いっそこの機会に、他の各部屋がどのように配置されるのかも、ご覧いただこうと思います。

その過程で、織田信長の重要な「隠し部屋」の存在が浮上するのです。

新解釈『天主指図』二重目／当てはめた文献上の各部屋

『信長記』『信長公記』類はそれぞれ微妙な差異がありますが、天主二重目の主な相違点は、「雉（きじ）の子を愛する」絵がある四畳敷と、「御棚に鳩」の絵がある四畳敷は、同じ部屋なのかどうか、という点になります。

上の図は、その点について、同じ部屋のこととする『安土日記』に基づきながら、ただし「十七てう敷」は他の『信長記』類のように「十畳敷」が正しい、という方針に沿って各部屋を当てはめてみたものです。

　　此下ニ金灯爐つらせられ候　…

このなかで文献と『天守指図』の描写が合わない部屋が一つあり、それは天主本体の東寄り（図で左寄り）の階段に接したカギ型の六畳間三つのうち、一番南側（図では上）の部屋は階段の上になり、実際は文献どおりの八畳間（「次八畳」）だったと思われる点です。（図は修正済み）

そもそも二部屋にまたがる階段スペースというのは、他の天守や櫓にも例の無い形ですし、これはやはり池上右平の “加筆” ではないかと疑われる部分です。

また北東隅（図では左下）の階段も同様でしょう。（修正済み）

さて、このように当てはめてみて、妙な形で残ってしまった（つまり村井貞勝らが拝見しなかった疑いのある）部分が、南西奥（右上）の角に小さく突き出た部屋であり、ここはいったい何なのか… という疑問が浮上します。

信長の「隠し部屋」が二重目の最奥に？？

この場所は、信長の御座と思われる「雉の子を愛する」絵の四畳敷の、さらに奥に位置していて、その間が柱と間仕切りで画されているため、普段はまさに「雉と子」の板絵等で隠されていた可能性がありそうなのです。

そしてそれは、全体の配置から見ますと「上段」「上々段」であった疑いが濃厚でしょう。

ご覧のように、この場所は「上段」「上々段」が相応しく、「上々段」は言うまでもなく天皇の御座を意味した場合が考えられます。

そんな「上段」「上々段」が、安土城天主のなかで普段は隠され、信長はそれを重臣の村井貞勝らに見せなかった可能性がある、ということは、いったい何を物語っているのでしょうか。

ご覧のように、この周辺は、梅の間の「御書院」「まへに盆山」（信長の化身とされた石）がごく間近にあった可能性を踏まえれば、安土城天主のなかでもトップシークレットに位置づけられた空間のようなのです。
