さて、どうも岐阜市や関係者の方々の間には、悲願の岐阜城「信長公居館」の復元に一歩でも二歩でも近づきたい！…との強い思惑があるのかもしれませんが、その焦りのような空気が、東京の方にまで漂って来ている感があります。

居館の痕跡が見つからなかった有力候補地（明治大帝像前）

ことに近年、関係する専門家の方々が、信長の山麓居館について、『フロイス日本史』に描かれた豪華さや破格ぶりを疑問視して、「豪華さは可能性の一つ」などと、或る種の “防御線” を張っている辺りに、それが如実に感じられてしまいます。

そうした防御線の狙いは、おそらくは、発掘調査で礎石などの直接的な物証が挙がっていない状況下でも、現地の山側奥に、簡素な信長公居館（！）を想定しうるように、今から期待値を下げておく点にあるのではないかと、城郭ファンの目には見えてしまいます。
　

一方、四階建て楼閣（月見櫓）ならば、銀閣と同様に「橋廊下」も想定できる…

一方、当ブログが執拗に（？）申し上げているのは、『フロイス日本史』の「予の邸」とは、織田信長が主殿（「大きい広間」）と別個に、庭園（山里）に設けた遊興のための楼閣ではなかったのか、という新たな視点です。

しかも前回の記事で申し上げたように、この楼閣（四階建て月見櫓）は、いわゆるアルカラ版のフロイス日本史ですと、いっそう輪郭がハッキリして来るようなのです。
　
　
アルカラ版の日本史とは、お馴染みの松田毅一・川崎桃太訳『フロイス日本史』が、フロイスの母国語ポルトガル語の写本から翻訳したのに対し、岐阜市歴史博物館が所蔵するスペイン・アルカラで印刷されたスペイン語訳フロイス書簡集から、同館の高木洋先生が翻訳したもので、通称「アルカラ版」と呼ばれています。

この両者の翻訳文には微妙な違いがあり、中にはけっこう重要な単語も含まれていて、その最たるものは「三階は山と同じ高さ」が、なんと「三階と山は平行」（！）に変わっている点でしょう。

この「平行」という表現は、当ブログが申し上げた山麓居館「上段」と楼閣の三階が、まさに同一の高さ（水平レベル）にあって、それを橋廊下が定規のようになって、歴然と見てとれる様子を描写したものではないでしょうか？

この点に関しては、高木先生ご自身も、三階と山をむすぶ渡り廊下の可能性に言及されていて、先生にも是非、白い四階建て月見櫓の方もご検討いただけましたら、恐悦至極です。

さて、ではこの下段にあたる岐阜公園の平地のどこに、四階建て月見櫓は建っていたと考えられるのでしょうか？

この部分は戦国から江戸時代まで、文献の記録が乏しく、岐阜城の歴史では定評ある村瀬茂七『稲葉山城史』（１９３７年）でもハッキリとしません。

第三篇の第三章「居館」には、フロイスなど宣教師関連の情報以外では、「千畳敷段々下西に南北へ桐の馬場跡あり今は畑となる」（岐陽故事）とか、「此の屋敷に用ひたりし石材は加納城築造の時全部引移され其影だになし」（金華山史）とあるのみです。

そして幕末はただの荒地になっていましたが、明治以降は一転して、公園化とともに宗教施設、物産陳列場、柔道場、動物園など、ありとあらゆる施設が建設・解体を繰り返した場所だそうです。

特に戦前、昭和１１年（１９３６年）に岐阜公園と長良川河畔で開催された「躍進日本大博覧会」では、約３０棟もの展示館（パビリオン）が建ち並びました。

この時は、なんと巨石通路の上にも、明治大帝像前にも、池の際にも、各種の建物があったそうで、しかし逆を申せば、そんな試練にも巨石通路は地中で生き抜いたわけですから、これはむしろ勇気を与えてくれる一件なのかもしれません。

さて、上図で見逃せないポイントは、岐阜公園の「池」がこの時、すでにあったという事実ではないでしょうか…

この「池」が、果たしていつの時代までさかのぼれるかは、先の『稲葉山城史』にも記載がなく、『岐阜市史』でも、岐阜公園の開園からの記録の中で「池」の整備に触れた言葉は一つもありません。

しかし、ろくに記録が無い、ということは、ひょっとするとこの池は、江戸時代から藪の中に “原形” があって、その後、時代ごとに「庭の手入れ」の範ちゅうで整えられて来た、という可能性もあるように思われます。

そこで、当サイトからのご提案として、今後の発掘調査の中で、是非一度、この「池」を調査してみてはいかがでしょうか？

もし「池」が相当に古いものをベースにしている、という何らかの手掛かりが得られれば、それだけでも、そこが庭園（山里）であった可能性が生まれ、展望が大きく開けて来るように思うのです。

結論として、今後もなお、発掘調査の方々が作業を続行できるように予算を付けて頂き、とにかく “全部を” 確認したうえで、「信長公居館」の跡地認定や復元に歩を進めるべきではないでしょうか？
　
　
　
追記：四階建て月見櫓の「位置」を逆算する方法

さて、この際、もっと調査範囲を限定できるイイ方法はないものか？ と考えますと、次の二つが思い浮かびます。
１．銀閣と月待山の位置関係を金華山に立体的に当てはめる
２．中秋の名月が金華山の山頂天守に重なって見える地点をさがす

１の方法は手軽なようですが、月待山は割となだらかな山であるため、どの辺に月が出るのを良しとするかで、答えが変わって来ます。

また２の方法は、山を見上げる角度が、金華山は月待山よりほんの何度か高くなるため、その分の月の動きを私は計算できず、いっそ今年あたり、現地で確認してみるのが一番、確実なのかもしれません。………
