続々報・本当に窓が無い？安土城天主の七重目

このところ話題にしています「七重目」は、安土城天主の各重の中でも、研究者によって復元の結果が千差万別になっている階です。

その千差万別の状態は、下の表のように『信長記』類の「キーワード」を軸に比較してみますと、よく分かります。

例えば内藤昌先生の復元は、先生ご自身が “発掘” した『天守指図』を基本に据えているため、文献のキーワードに比べますと、池上右平の書き込みにかなり “引っ張られた” 結果になっています。

すなわち、ご覧の色文字で対比したとおり、七重目に関しては、ほとんどの要素が文献の記述からやや離れたものになっております。

そして今回の記事では、これとは対極的な復元もあることを是非ご紹介したいと思います。それは下の安土城天主の模型です。

写真は十数年前、熱海城（！）に展示されていた模型を、レンズ付きフィルムでガラス越しに撮ったものです。

そのため当然のごとく鮮明でなく、せっかくの模型のディティールが伝わらない恐れもあって、今回は独自に “絵” にしてみました。

松岡利郎先生は、当ブログの小松城天守の記事（『実在したもう一つの吹き抜け』）でも著作を引用させていただいた先生ですが、その復原模型は文献『信長記』類に忠実であろうとする以上に、『信長記』類のⅠ類本（『安土日記』）とⅡ～Ⅳ類本（『信長公記』等）の “相違点” まで！反映させようとしたものなのです。

このように “色文字” で対比できる “文献との差” はわずかです。

では、松岡先生の復原方針はどういうものだったのか、『信長記』類のⅠ類本とⅡ～Ⅳ類本の “相違点” を確認してみましょう。

（※下記『安土日記』の「上一重」は七重目のこと）

【Ⅰ類本からⅡ～Ⅳ類本になって、本文から消えた要素】
１．外輪（そとがわ）の欄干
２．金色の柱
３．絵師の名、狩野永徳

【Ⅰ類本からⅡ～Ⅳ類本になって、本文に加えられた要素】
４．外輪（そとがわ）も金づくし
５．内柱に上り龍・下り龍
６．天井に天人御影向の絵
７．儒教画は座敷内にある
８．十二個の火打ち・宝ちゃく

ただし５．６．８．の要素は、Ⅰ類本『安土日記』にも行間補記として後から書き込みされていて、どういう経緯でそうなったのか判断がつかないため、やや注意が必要とされている要素です。
（※また狭間戸が「数六十余有」という部分も、天主全体の窓の数を誤伝したもの、と言われています。）

したがって、そうした条件もつかず、純然と “消えたり” “加えられたり” した要素は、赤文字の「１．外輪の欄干」「２．金色の柱」と「４．外輪も金づくし」であり、やはり欄干と外壁の様子が焦点になってくるわけです。

そのような状況を踏まえた復原アイデアとして、「外輪の欄干は無かった」という “より正しい改定” がⅡ～Ⅳ類本で行われたのだ、と考えたのが、松岡先生の復原模型であるようなのです。！

欄干も廻縁も無く、七重目の外観がすべて金づくしになった模型は、そうした『信長記』類の事情を踏まえた、ある意味で、まことに理にかなった復原であり、舌を巻くような思いがいたします。

とりわけ金づくしの外観は、シャルヴォア『日本史』で七重目が “一個の純金の冠” と表現されたことや、モンタヌス『日本史』の大坂城天守の瓦（金･銅・鉛・石瓦の四色!）、さらにウィンゲの木版画が深く影響しているようで、次回はそうした観点から、驚くべき安土城天主の可能性をご紹介してまいります。
