ならば聚楽第チルドレンの筆頭・天正期の駿府城には「小天守」とともに大天守もあったのか

２０１３－２０１４年度リポートで慶長期の駿府城天守についてアレコレと申し上げましたが、その中では、慶長１２年末の本丸火災と天守の再建に関して、次のごとき当サイト独自の「新仮説」をご覧いただきました。

―――これはつまり、本丸火災で焼けた天守というのは、そこに豊臣大名の中村一氏か内藤信成の時代からの「御天守」がずっと存在していて、それを包み込むような新規の石垣工事が行なわれ、その結果、“広すぎる天守台” がやや位置を変えて出現したものの、それらが本丸御殿もろとも焼けてしまった、ということではなかったのかという仮説です。

詳しい内容はリポートの方をご覧いただきたいのですが、このような「新仮説」であれば、従来説の（慶長１２年末に焼失した「徳川」天守の）建設期間の極端な短さや、幕府御大工・中井正清の不自然な行動、といった矛盾点が一挙に解消されますし、さらには再建時にも繰り返された“広すぎる天守台”の由来までも特定できるかもしれない、という大きなメリットが期待できます。

で、このような「新仮説」の是非は、天守台の発掘調査でシロクロの決着がつくはずですが……

露出した大天守台の南西隅は、算木積みの隅石が割れているようにも見え……

隅石の大きさが本丸の石垣と同程度なのは、これが寛永の火災後の再築部分だからなのか？…

それにしても、当然ながら、こんなにデカい天守台を私は見たことがありません。

! ! !　天守台の一辺をおそらくはまだ半分も掘り切っていないのに、この土砂の量、というのが驚きですが（→多くは栗石？）、このことは現場の説明員の方も心配顔であったのが印象的でした。

と申しますのも、発掘中の土砂というのは簡単に捨てるわけに行かないようでして、開始された静岡市による発掘調査は、今後４年間をかけて駿府城天守台の解明を進めようというのですから、さらに大量の土砂が発生することは確実です。

よもや、それらの土砂は順次「埋め戻し」てしまう!?…のではあるまいと思いつつ、当サイトの「新仮説」のこともあるため、興味津々で今後の成り行きに大注目しております。

で、この報道の略図を当サイト「新仮説」の上にダブらせますと…

ご覧のように、初年度の調査は天守台の西辺が対象になっていて、より東側の「新仮説」に関わる部分が明らかになるのは、２年度目以降のことになるようです。

さて、今回の調査は、大きな方針の一つとして、天守台跡の地中には「今川期の遺構」があるのではないか、というテーマも掲げられていますが、前述のごとく、慶長年間の徳川時代はもちろん、その前の内藤信成や中村一氏の時代（→過去に瓦の発見例も）、そして第一回目の徳川家康による天正年間の築城（土塁の天守台？）などなど、「今川期」に達する以前にも、天守台石垣の中や下には色んな遺構が複雑に埋まっている可能性がありそうです。

そこで年代の確認のため、例えば天正１０年、甲斐の武田氏の滅亡後に、徳川家康が初めて駿府城を得たあたりからの年表をご覧下さい。

このように家康による築城は第一回目・第二回目とあったわけですが、従来からとりわけ大きな「謎」とされて来たのが、第一回目の築城時に、文献上では「小天守」という文言が伝わっているものの、この時、果たして大天守も一緒に存在したのか？ という問題でしょう。

天正年間の徳川「天守」が文字として現れた記録は、まさにこれだけ（関ヶ原合戦の前哨戦で戦死した松平家忠の日記）のようであり、前出の静岡市のホームページでは、この文言をもとに？天正１６年５月１２日に「駿府城天守完成」と紹介してありますが、これなどはやや拙速(せっそく)の判断のように感じますし、建物としての存在が確実視できるのは翌１７年２月の「小傳主」＝小天守だけ、というのが従来から言われて来た考え方です。

（※追記／『家忠日記』には同日の天正１６年５月１２日に「この日御天守なる」という文言もある、と一部で言われているのは、後世に注釈文として書き加えられた部分ではないでしょうか。でなければ、家康がこの日、普請に精を入れるよう使いを発した記述とも矛盾してしまいます…）

で、この問題で是非ともご確認いただきたいのは、駿府城で起きた主な出来事の “タイミング” でありまして、先ほどの年表をもう一度だけご覧下さい。

ご覧の赤文字の部分のとおり、第一回目の築城と、『家忠日記』の「てんしゆの才木」「小傳主」築造の記述とは、時期的なタイミングがやや異なっておりまして、その間に ＜聚楽第行幸への参列＞ というイベントがはさまっていた点に、ご注目をいただきたいのです。

私なんぞの勝手な印象としては、天正の徳川時代の駿府城は、仮称「聚楽第チルドレン」の筆頭と申し上げてもいい城だと思っているのですが、天守の築造と、聚楽第の訪問、という二つの事柄の関連性を考えますと、まさに前回の「広島城」と同じことが、駿府城でも起きていたのではなかったでしょうか？

前回の記事では広島城天守（※江戸時代から昭和２０年まで続いた天守）は西ヶ谷恭弘先生の指摘のように関ヶ原合戦後に福島正則が築いたものであり、その前の毛利時代は、聚楽第にならって本丸北西隅が天守台だけになっていたのではないか…

なおかつ、毛利輝元は上記の城絵図の位置に、言わば自前用の、純然たる望楼型の天守（≒小天守）をあげていたのではなかろうか？ と申し上げたわけですが、そうした状況は、取りも直さず ＜「小天守」の記録しかない駿府城＞ においても、見逃せないポイントになって来るのではないかと思われるのです。

―――言うなれば、この度の聚楽第跡地の地中探査がもたらした聚楽第天守のありようによって、今や豊臣政権の有力大名たちの天守についても、解釈方法の「ドミノ倒し」が起きようとしているのかもしれません。

ここでも、「未完のパズル」がパチンッ! と綺麗にはまる音が聞えるような…

駿府城の場合、それはきっと、人々が思う以上に大規模な「小傳主」… ひょっとすると “四重の天守建築” がここに建っていたのではないか？… と、私なんぞは秘かににらんでいるのですが。
