ひと目でわかる、江戸城の寛永度天守台と現存天守台はまったくの別物

前回記事の「宝くじ」計画やその前の「家光上洛時の天守」と同じく、今回もまたまた昨年１２月の小田原城シンポジウムで痛感した事から申し上げてみたく、何点かの図解付きでご紹介しましょう。
　
　
　
＜ＮＰＯ「江戸城天守を再建する会」の事実無根の説明に
　なぜ城郭専門家は口をつぐむのか？ …これはいつか来た道？？＞
　
　
　
シンポジウムの会場には、その４日前に行われた認定ＮＰＯ法人「江戸城天守を再建する会」の発足記念集会に参加された方々もいて、会場内では「皇居には天守閣の石垣が残っているんだと」「だからその上に木造で再建しよう、ていう江戸城のデカいこと！」といった談笑がちらほらと聞えてきて、江戸城ＮＰＯの説明やＣＧ映像の効果がかなり浸透していました。

私は会場のいちばん後ろの席に座ったのですが、その直後に、なんと、当日のパネリストの一人で「江戸城天守を再建する会」の小竹直隆(おだけ なおたか)理事長が偶然、私のとなりの席に座ったのです。! !

（※お顔を私が勝手に存じ上げていただけで、いわゆる「面識」はありませんでした）

が即座に、小田原ＮＰＯの古川理事が小竹理事長を最前列のパネリスト席に招いたため、事なきを得たのですが、もしもあのままいくばくかの時間があれば、おそらく私は我慢しきれずに、あの場でご挨拶を申し上げ、二言三言、私の疑問をぶつけて、いきなり険悪な空気を作り出していたのかもしれません。
　
　
そんなニアミスの後に始まったシンポジウムでは、小竹理事長は「命がけで」「何が何でも」「石にかじりついても」と繰り返すばかりの、まったくもって、昭和のモーレツ企業戦士がそのまま今日に至っているような方だとお見受けしましたが、それだけにかえって、私の危機感が深まりました。

これはまさに、いつか来た道、ではないかと。

皇居（旧江戸城）の現存天守台
明暦の大火で焼けた寛永度天守台とは、石の色や大きさ、全体の高さや形状も異なる「別物」

問題の根本は、当ブログで再三再四、申し上げて来たとおり、江戸城の寛永度天守台と現存天守台は ＜まったくの別物である＞ という歴史上の基本的な事実を「再建する会」が無視（軽視）し続けている、という一点に起因します。

しかも、その真逆に、さも同一物であるかのような ＜事実無根の説明＞ を続けていて、そうした説明の上にプロジェクト全体が立脚している、という重大な欠陥を、一般向けには隠し続けているのです。例えば…

「江戸城寛永度天守」は、徳川３代将軍家光公が１６３８年につくった城ですが、その僅か１９年後、１６５７年の明暦の大火で焼失し、その後今日まで３５０年余り、遂に再建されることなく、台座だけが皇居東御苑に遺されています。
しかし、この「江戸城寛永度天守」は、日本全国で安土城以来１００を越えてつくられた天守の最高到達点と言われ…
　
　
ご覧の挨拶文が典型的でして、一般の人々にとっては、まるで寛永度天守の天守台（文中では「台座」）がそのまま遺されて現存しているかのような説明になっていますが、これがとんでもない間違い（よもや意図的…）であることは、城郭専門家や城郭ファンの方ならすぐにお判りでしょう。

すなわち、明暦の大火の翌々年、焼け残った寛永度天守台は、加賀藩前田家の手伝い普請によって「色も」「高さも」「形状も」異なる新規の天守台（現存天守台）として築き直されたことは、城郭研究の世界では常識の類いだからです。
　
　
しかも、その現存天守台は、かの保科正之（ほしな まさゆき／将軍家光の異母弟）の有名な「もはや天守の再建は無用」という歴史的な献言の結果、台のみで、その後の３５５年を経て今日に伝わる貴重な遺産である点に、小竹理事長はまったく無関心だということを露呈しているわけです。（よもや本人は歴史嫌い?…）

天守は再建されなかったものの、天守台は築き直されており、見学者は巨大な天守台に登って、東京の風景を一望することができる。

今日、天守台石垣の東南側に激しく炎が当たり焼き爛れた石積をみるが、この火災のあとは、明暦の大火ではなく、文久三年(一八六三)の大火によるものだ。
というのは、今日の天守台の表石垣は、明暦大火の二年後にぼろぼろになった天守台石垣を次に述べるように積み直したからである。
　
　
それでは、西ヶ谷先生の「次に述べるように」の指摘を参照しつつ、寛永度天守台と現存天守台との違いを列挙してみますと…
　
　
１．石が異なるため石垣の「色」や印象がまるで違う

寛永度天守台の「伊豆石」（罹災後に城内で転用された様子） ／ 現存天守台の「御影石」

ご覧のとおり、寛永度天守台には暗い灰色の安山岩の「伊豆石」が使われたことは、明暦の大火の一部始終を伝えた文献『後見草』の記述から確実視されています。

一方、現存天守台は明るい肌色の大ぶりな「御影石(みかげいし)」で積まれているのですから、両者の印象は、小さな子供でもわかるほどの歴然たる違いがあったことになります。
　
　
２．全体の「高さ」には約３ｍの違いがある

寛永度天守の復元において最も重要とされる図面史料（都立中央図書館蔵『江府御天守図 百分之一』）には、天守台の部分に「石垣高 直立 京間七間」とはっきり書き込まれています。

そして一方、現存天守台の高さは５間半しかなく、もしもこの上に再建天守を載せるとしても、ご覧の約３ｍの落差をどうするというのでしょうか？

よもや宮内庁所管の皇居東御苑のなかで、テキトーな改築（かさ上げ!?）をするつもりなのか、それとも、知らぬふりでそのまま建ててしまうのか…

はたまた奥の手の “新学説” などで強行突破するのか…　いずれにしても我が国の「城」の歴史をないがしろにする、言語道断の所業ではないでしょうか。
　
　
３．簡素化された現存天守台は「形状」もかなり違っている

両者は形状についても、ご覧のとおり、構造や機能の面で一目瞭然(りょうぜん)たる違いがあり、今日まで様々な変遷をへて現状に至っている現存天守台を、これからいったい、どうするというのでしょうか。

ハッキリ申しまして、今日現在での再建天守というのは、誰がどうやっても、チクハグさから完全に逃れることは不可能なのだと申し上げざるをえません。
　
　
４．そもそも歴史的な経緯が異なる「別物」である

言わば「天守の時代の終焉(しゅうえん)」を宣言した保科正之
（ほしな まさゆき／会津松平家の初代藩主）

前述の保科正之の献言（「もはや天守の再建は無用」）は、まさに天守の歴史を画する代表的な文言の一つであり、その文言によって成り立ってきた現存天守台は、「天守」そのものを研究する上でも、まことに重要な遺産（歴史の証人）であるわけです。

ですから、こともあろうに、それを損壊しようという者は、そもそも「城」や「天守」を語る資格は塵(ちり)ほども無い! ! … というのが私の本音です。
　
　
以上の論点を踏まえますと、小竹理事長の「台座が遺されているから」というアピールで、どれだけ多くの賛同者が集まったかという点を考えれば、小竹理事長の説明には、もはや素人(しろうと)の間違いでは済まされない、一種の “悪質さ” を感じます。
　
　
（※なお今回申し上げている問題は、例えば、徳川再築の天守台上に豊臣風のコンクリート天守を建てた「大阪城天守閣」よりマシだろう、とのご意見もあるかもしれません。しかし当時の設計者・古川重春先生の『日本城郭考』等を読みますと、乏しい史料の中で、手探り状態の設計を行っていたことが判ります。
　そのように間違いを知りえずに犯した間違いと、間違いを隠蔽(いんぺい)して強行突破する間違いとは、本質的に別次元の問題だと思われてなりません）
　

ですから、このような事実無根の説明のもとに、これから先、巨額の寄付金や公的な財政支援を引き出そうという「江戸城天守を再建する会」は、ひょっとすると、認定ＮＰＯとしての法人格に問題があるのではないか？…という疑義（金銭上の詐欺的行為の可能性）も感じられてしまいます。

もしも今後、このままいつまでも改善が見られない場合は、最終的には「告発」の必要性もあろうかと、本気で思ってしまうのですが、いかがでしょうか。…

    現存天守台の上面の大きさが不明ですが、同じ程度の傾斜であれば、下面、高さを考えれば、かなり狭く、寛永度の設計図での天守閣の建設は不可能と思います。某NPOは詐欺集団かと。現存天守台に対応した正徳の設計図による天守閣なら可能かと思いますが・・・・・。
