戦慄！天主の「蔵」は正倉院と同じ床面積だった

さて、前回ご紹介した織田信長の「蘭奢待（らんじゃたい）」切り取り事件において、何より重要なポイントは、実は、正倉院の北倉・中倉・南倉の三つの倉内を、信長は自らの目で確かめた、という点にありそうです。

そのあたりの経緯を、再び由水常雄先生の『正倉院の謎』から引用させていただきますと…

この信長の開封には、京都より中倉と北倉の封および鍵をもってきたが、南倉は寺の三綱僧の封がつけられている綱封蔵（こうふうぞう）なので、この鍵も京の公家に保管されていたのだが、持参されなかった。
しかし信長は南倉もみたいというので、寺では相談の上、扉の錠前のついている横木を打ち離し、錠を鍛冶屋に切り取らせて、中をみせた。
　
　
このように信長は、正倉院の倉内の状態に、特別な関心を寄せていたことが分かります。

（※それに対し、大騒動に至った蘭奢待そのものは、二つに割ってそれぞれ茶人・津田宗及と千利休に与えてしまい、その時の破片は重臣・村井貞勝に与えて、自らは香を焚くこともしなかったそうです。）

つまり信長のねらいは、前掲の本で由水先生が指摘したとおり、正倉院の宝物に手をかけるという「超越者の立場を顕示」することにあって、その次の関心事としては、もう香木そのものは眼中に無く、正倉院の “構造と使われ方” を確認することにあったようなのです。

では、その正倉院の平面の規模ですが、図のように周囲に突き出た「跳ね出し」を除いて、南北の合計が１０８尺余（約３３ｍ）、東西が３０尺余（約９．３ｍ）となっています。

北倉・中倉・南倉はほぼ同じ規模で、仮に図の数値から単純に計算しますと…
　北倉＝１０４３．１平方尺
　中倉＝１２１９．１平方尺
　南蔵＝１０４２．５平方尺

三倉の合計は３３０４．７平方尺になります。
　
　
一方、我らが安土城天主の「高さ１２間余の蔵」に該当する中心部は、ご覧のとおり七尺間で４間×６間ですので、単純に計算しますと、一重目～四重目は各重とも１１７６平方尺ということになります。

正倉院と『天守指図』三重目（同縮尺）

ただし図のように、安土城天主の場合は、四重分の×４ではなく、三重分の×３で考える必要がありそうです。

と申しますのは、石蔵内部の一重目は一間ごとに礎石が配置されていて、柱が林立していた可能性が言われています。

その様子は、ちょうど、正倉院の床下の柱（円束柱）が林立する様子にも似ていて、両者は何か意図的な類似性（床下としての扱い）があるようにも感じられるからです。
　
　
そこで仮に、仮にですが、その一重目を除外して、貴重な品々を納める “本式の蔵” として使われたのは、二重目から四重目までの三重分だけだった、と仮定してみますと、その合計の床面積は…

　１１７６平方尺×３重分＝３５２８平方尺

正倉院３３０４．７に対して、安土城天主３５２８。二つの数値はやや近いようですが、まだ、とりたてて何か言えるほどではありません。

ただ、両者はともに扉口付近や階段室など、実際には “収蔵に使えない” スペースがあります。正倉院の場合は全体の９分の１が扉口付近にあたり、安土城天主の場合は６分の１が階段室になります。

そこで、その面積を除外してみると、どうでしょうか…

　正倉院　３３０４．７×（９分の８）＝２９３７．５平方尺
　安土城天主　３５２８×（６分の５）＝２９４０　　平方尺

なんと両者の差は２．５平方尺。わずか４８ｃｍ四方で、座布団一枚分（！）しか差が無かったのです。

建物全体のスケールからすると、これはもう “意図的に同じ規模でピッタリ合わせた” と申し上げても良いレベルにあるのではないでしょうか。
　
　
しかし、しかし、後出しジャンケンのようで恐縮なのですが、下図のように、正倉院は内部が二階建てになっていて、さらに一考を要するのです。

つまり正倉院の床面積は、先程の数値の倍になるわけです。

果たして奈良時代からこうだったのか、（すなわち信長が見た時もそうだったのか）という点については、円柱の通柱が二階の床を支える構造は、円柱の両脇に角柱二本を添えて支える独特のもので、これを東京文化財研究所の清水真一先生は次のように説明しています。

柱に欠損部が生じることを避けて板床を張るための手法であり、古代の床組構法の典型である。
　
　
したがって信長もこの内部の二階建ては目撃したはずで、合計の床面積が倍近くになることも鮮明に記憶したに違いありません。

ちなみに、宝物はすべて辛櫃（からびつ）に納められ、倉内は辛櫃だけが並ぶ状態であり、そのため正倉院の内部一階は、階高が１間強でも十分であったようです。

さて、そうなりますと、安土城天主の「蔵」構造もやや検討が必要で、一重目～四重目は例の「本柱」８間が中心を貫いていて、各重およそ２間ずつの階高が許されるわけですが、そう単純に２間ずつであったかどうかは分からなくなって来ます。

蘭奢待の切り取りを敢行した信長の意図（さらなる野望）によっては、二重目～四重目は（正倉院とそっくりに）内部でさらに二段式の床で仕切られ、倍の床面積を有していたのかもしれません。

そうした独特の構造については、階段室（踊り場）との兼ね合いもあって、かなり複雑な仕組みになっていた可能性がありそうなのです。
