六重目(五階)の「千本の矢」…スサノオを天で待ち受ける軍装のアマテラス

岐阜城の山頂天守の一階（五階／六重目？）はどんな階だったのか

上の城に登ると、入口の最初の三つの広間には、約百名以上の若い貴人がいたでありましょうか
（中略）
私たちが到着しますと、信長はただちに私たちを呼ばせ、私たち、ロレンソ修道士と私は中に入りました。
彼は次男に茶を持参するように命じました。彼は私に最初の茶碗をとらせ、彼は二番目のをとり、第三のを修道士に与えさせました。
同所の前廊から彼は私たちに美濃と尾張の大部分を示しましたが、すべて平坦で、山と城から展望することができました。
この前廊に面し内部に向かって、きわめて豪華な部屋があり、すべて塗金した屏風で飾られ、内に千本、あるいはそれ以上の矢が置かれていました。

上記の訳文は、山頂天守の一階、すなわち織田信長が岐阜城に設けた「立体的御殿」の五階についての描写と思われますが、まず「上の城」の中でも「最初の三つの広間」と、山頂天守とは、別の建物であった可能性があるのでしょう。

そしてフロイスとロレンソが呼ばれて「中に入り」茶を飲んだ座敷？があって、「同所の前廊から」南の濃尾平野が見渡せ、しかも二人がそれまで通らなかった奥の「内部に」「きわめて豪華な部屋」があったと書かれています。

したがって、おそらく二人は、山頂天守の付櫓から入ってそこで茶を飲んだのであり、付櫓は南側に高欄が走っていて濃尾平野を見渡せたのでしょうし、「内部」というのが西の城下側、つまり天守そのものの一階＝立体的御殿の五階（六重目）だったのではないでしょうか。

で、今回申し上げたい話題の中心は「千本の矢」でして、訳文の中で金屏風の豪華な部屋に置いてあったという「千本あるいはそれ以上の矢」に焦点を当てますと、そこから驚くほど色々な連想が出来るのです。

まず「千本の矢」というのは防御用の実用の弓矢ではなく、神前に供えた「千入(ちのり)の靫(ゆぎ)」ではなかったかと思うのですが、どうでしょう。

もしそうだとしますと、ダイナミックな岐阜城の「立体的御殿」の五階にふさわしい仕立てであり、すなわち天（高天原／タカマガハラ）のアマテラス（天照大御神）が「背には千入の靫を負い、脇にも五百入の靭をつけ」て、眼下のスサノオ（須佐之男命）に対して何故あがってきたかと雄々しく叫んだ、という『古事記』のスサノオ伝説を想起させるからです。

ちょっと唐突に聞えるかもしれませんが、岐阜城の山頂というロケーションと、後ほど申し上げる様々な関連性から、そう思えてならないのです。

古代の靫(ゆぎ)は矢尻を上にして背負うための入れ物／埴輪の上４分の３がそれ

古代の靫(ゆぎ)は、信長の時代にはとっくに存在しなかったでしょうから、おそらくは千本の矢と、五百本の矢を、それぞれ神前（天照大御神）に供えるような形にしてあったものと想像しているわけでして、ここではまず『古事記』のスサノオの昇天伝説をザザザッとご紹介しますと…
　
　
（※以下の口語訳は「月刊 京都史跡散策会」様の第２３号「冥府の神、荒ぶる神、須佐之男命」のほぼ丸写しであることを、何とぞ、何とぞお許し下さい）

黄泉国から逃げ帰った伊邪那岐命（イザナギノミコト）は、私はなんともいやな穢（けが）れた国へ行っていたものだ、ここはなんとしても、この身の禊（みそぎ）をしなければなるまい、として筑紫の日向の橘の小戸の阿波岐原で禊祓いをした際、左の目を洗ったときに天照大御神（アマテラスオオミカミ）が生まれ、右の目を洗ったときに月読命（ツクヨミノミコト）が生まれ、鼻を洗ったときに生まれた神が建速須佐之男命（タケハヤスサノオノミコト）でした。
伊邪那岐命は三貴子（みはしらのうずのこ）を得たと歓喜して、天照大御神には「高天原を治めなさい」と、次に月読命には「夜の食国オスクニを治めなさい」と、建速須佐之男命には「海原を治めなさい」と統治を分担させました。

ところが須佐之男命は委任された国を治めず、髭が胸前に垂れるまでの大人になっても、啼きわめいているばかりです。
その様子は青々と茂る山を泣き枯らし、河海まで泣き乾らしてしまいました。そこから邪悪な神の声が、五月の蠅さながらに満ちあふれ、万物はいっせいに災いに見舞われました。
伊邪那岐命は須佐之男命に、「どうしてお前は任された国を治めずに泣き喚いているのか」と糾(ただ)すと、「私は亡き母の国、根の堅洲国カタスクニに行きたいと思って泣くのです」と。伊邪那岐命は大いに怒って、「ならばお前はこの国には住んではならない」と須佐之男命を天上界から追放してしまいます。

追い払われた須佐之男命が天照大御神に暇乞いをしようと天に上るとき、山川ことごとく鳴動して国土が揺れ動きました。
この有様に天照大御神は驚いて、須佐之男命には善心がなく国を奪おうとしていると思い込んで、男性のように髪を美豆羅ミズラに結い、千入りの靭（ゆぎ）を背負い、脇にも五百入の靭をつけ、雄々しく叫んで「なぜ上がってきたのか」と問いただしました。

すると須佐之男命は、「邪きたなき心なく、妣母の国に行きたくて泣いていたところ追放された」と事情を説明しますが、天照大御神は、清廉潔白の証を求めます。いったい須佐之男命の言い分が真実かどうかを確かめるべく宇気比ウケイ(誓約)の方法をとりました。「自分の心が清明であることを証明するために、双方で子供を作りましょう」と答えました。
その結果は、天照大御神が須佐之男命の剣をもとに３女神を得、須佐之男命が天照大御神の珠によって５男神を得ました。５男３女神の誕生により、清き心が証明されました。

しかし、須佐之男命は宇気比(誓約)に勝ったおごりから、天照大御神の営田みつくだの畦(あぜ)を壊し、溝を埋め、稲の初穂(大嘗)を召し上がる神殿を糞尿で汚します。
しかし、天照大御神は、咎(とが)めようとするどころか、逆に弁護しています。「糞のようなのは私の弟が酔って吐き散らしたもの、田を壊し溝を埋めたのは私の弟が地面が惜しいとしてやったこと」と言葉でつくろいますが、そのとりなしにも反省せず、なおも悪しき行動は止むことがありません。

さらに天照大御神が機織り屋で神に供える衣服を織っていたところの天井に穴を開け 逆剥ぎにした天斑馬アメノフチコマを投げ込んで、天衣織女アメノミソオリメは仰天して機(はた)の杼(ひ)で ほとを突いて死にいたらしめました。
須佐之男命の所業は、高天原の神聖への侵犯・冒涜であるので、おそれをなした天照大御神は、ついに大磐屋の戸を閉じて、中に籠ってしまいます。

このように、亡き母の国に行きたいとグレていたスサノオが、登って行った先の天（アマテラスの高天原）が、岐阜の山頂天守に見立てられていた! ! とするならば、信長の想像力には本当に舌を巻かざるをえません。

何故なら、織田家と縁の深かった津島神社の祭神がスサノオ「建速須佐之男命」なのですから、ひょっとして信長は岐阜築城にあたり、自らをスサノオに見立てていたのではあるまいか… などという壮大な話にもなって来るのです。

スサノオとは、子孫の大国主之神による国譲りや、その後の天皇の神器の誕生に関わったこと（ヤマタノオロチの退治）で “キングメーカーの象徴” とも解釈される存在だと言われています。

このうえさらに、伝説の舞台が「高天原」(たかまがはら)だという点で申しますと、当ブログで再三再四、引用させていただいた『朝日百科』の、安土城天主の襖絵の画題には「日本神話がない」という重要な指摘にも、新たな要素がからんで来ることになるでしょう。

このところ当ブログでは ＜銀閣－岐阜の四階建て楼閣－安土城天主＞ という連関を軸にして、信長が構想した「立体的御殿」の成り立ちを追っていますが、最終形態の安土城天主の構想（画題）に日本神話が欠落しているのは、内裏にならっただけと考えればそうでしょうが、やはりちょっと解(げ)せません。

そこで今回申し上げたように、岐阜城の山頂天守の「千本の矢」こそ、その謎を解くカギであったのかもしれず、「立体的御殿」の六重目（五階）は、岐阜城の段階までは、まさに日本神話の階（スサノオの昇天の階）であったと申し上げることが出来るのかもしれません。

軍装の大天使ミカエル（聖ミカエル）

さて、５年前の当ブログ記事で、安土城天主の外壁には、銅版包みの柱に「ばてれんの絵」が彫刻されていた可能性がある、という櫻井成廣先生の指摘をご紹介しました。

この「ばてれんの絵」とは何か？と考えた場合、まさか宣教師や聖人・聖母子像などではないでしょうし、安土山頂の天主に刻むキリスト教のモチーフとして最もふさわしいのは「大天使ミカエル（日本の守護聖人）」ではなかったか、と申し上げました。

これなども今回の話題で「軍装のアマテラス」が岐阜城の段階で登場していたとしますと、それに大いに触発された結果とも考えられ、それもこれも、信長がめざした「天下布武」の理論武装の一環として、「立体的御殿」の成り立ちに深く関わった神々なのだと言えそうです。
